an abstract for my abstracts

Incoming a bunch of abstract painting posts;

I’m so tempted to try to explain myself because I feel that abstract painting requires something different than, say, a still life or a portrait painting. It’s easy to argue with modern and/or abstract art with “wow I can do that with my foot too” or “gee let me take 10 min of my time to make this one black square im so artsy”.

Abstract painting is a bit of new territory for me but it’s also incredibly freeing. I know I can do representative painting, and I wanted something more. I loved doing these and they did take a lot of time and consideration and thought processes.

I explored the theme of contamination with visual and the process as the priorities. Thus dividing the same painting into several different ones was a fascinating visual experience, something I definitely want to start thinking about. Process is a really important part of art for me, and I feel that this type of painting may just be what I need.

I ended up kinda explaining myself anyway but I tried not to go too much into it.
